DIY Footprint Ornament for Baby’s First Christmas

DIY Christmas Footprint Ornament
I love making ornaments for Christmas! Once I became a mom, I knew I had to do something special for my kids. Finding one to create for my baby boy was definitely important. I know it’s not his first Christmas but he still has adorable and tiny feet.  I found this cute ornament by Bare Feet On The Dashboard on Pinterest and knew I had to create one for myself. It was easy to make and really affordable. Check out the instructions below to create a DIY footprint ornament for baby’s first Christmas.

I used washable non-toxic paint and a foam brush for the footprints. You can use any color but I went with red to match our Christmas decorations. The paper I used is from the cardstock section at Hobby Lobby. Always check the store’s website for any deals or coupons. I rarely pay full price for my craft items. I wanted to use something with a pattern that would show on the opposite side of the footprints. A glitter cardstock will also work as long as one side is plain. I gave him some snacks while I tried getting his footprints for the ornament. It’s probably easier to get the footprints if your baby is sleeping but I thought about that afterwards. Ha! I purchased a disc shaped clear plastic ornament for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree. You can also find them at your local craft store for a great price. Once again, don’t forget to use a coupon if possible to save some extra money. I cut a circle around the footprint making sure that it would fit inside of the ornament.  Next, I rolled it up to place it in the ornament and then flattened it out with a pen. Instead of writing Kaisen’s name and year, I decided to use some glittery stickers. You can add your child’s date of birth on the back using stickers or paint markers. Finally, add a ribbon to the ornament so that you can hang it on the Christmas tree.
