Easy DIY Treasure Map for Your Little Pirates

We are still celebrating Gasparilla (pirate invasion in Tampa) season at the house. I wanted to find a simple treasure map for my oldest son to make this week. I found this cute map byΒ Serendipitous Discovery and had to create something similar. This was perfect for our Gasparilla theme. Check out this easy DIY treasure map for your little pirates. You can always add extra details like an alligator in the river or a treasure chest. Get creative!

Supplies:
  • Construction paper or cardstock (red, green, blue, brown, black & grey)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Washable markers or crayons (optional)
Directions:Β 
  1. Use safety scissors to cut out green shapes for the land. It can be for the grass or trees.
  2. Next, cut out a squiggle shape from the blue paper to represent either a river or lake.
  3. You can’t have a treasure map without the X marks the spot sign. Use the safety scissor to cut the sign from the red paper.
  4. Cut triangles from grey paper to represent mountains and small black rectangles for the trail.
  5. Finally, have your child assemble their treasure map. They can use markers to add more details to their map including a pirate ship or animals.

    This simple DIY treasure map craft for kids is the perfect art activity for Gasparilla season, Halloween or a pirate themed birthday party.
