Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me! We are so excited to attend the Children’s Gasparilla Parade this weekend in Tampa. It’s a family tradition for many residents in the Tampa Bay area. The best way to gear up for one of the biggest pirate celebrations in the country is wearing a costume. There are some people who really go all out by purchasing high-end costumes from local shops. Supplies for DIY Pirate Costumes
- White shirt
- Black shorts or pants
- Red bandanas
- Pirate temporary tattoos
- Black makeup
- Felt sheets (red, black or white)
- Pirate hat
- Red fabric
- Eye patch
The costumes below are perfect for babies and toddlers. I was able to save clothes that my oldest used to wear to create pirate costumes for my youngest child. They are easy to make and don’t require sewing skills.
You can keep it simple or get a little fancy with the costumes for preschoolers and older kids.
I had the opportunity to appear on the local news to show parents how to create these easy DIY pirate costumes for kids. I was able to create each outfit for under $10. Use clothes in the kid’s closet or find cheap clothes at your local thrift store.
