Amazing Thanksgiving Crafts That Will Make Your Kids Happy

Thanksgiving is next week! Many people are getting last minute items to prepare for this holiday. We are not hosting our family this year due to the pandemic. However, we are still going to have a nice feast and plenty of activities for the kids. I know it can be a challenge to get things done for Thanksgiving while your children are running around. Thankfully, I’ve put together a list of some amazing Thanksgiving crafts that will make your kids happy.

Toiler Paper Roll Turkey Craft

Supplies

Directions

  1. First, cut the paper plate in half. 
  2. Next, tear or cut different colors from the old magazine into small squares then glue onto the plate. 
  3. You can either leave the toilet paper roll plain or paint it darker brown.
  4. Glue the wiggle eyes to the toilet paper roll. 
  5. Fold the orange paper in half and cut a small triangle to form the beak. Glue it to the toilet paper roll under the eyes. 
  6. Cut a small piece of red paper and glue it next to the beak for the wattle.
  7. Finally, glue the toilet paper roll to the center of the plate to complete this amazing Thanksgiving craft.

DIY Turkey Hat

Supplies

Directions

  1. First, cut two long strips of brown paper to make the headband.
  2. Next, download the turkey and feather template then print and cut.
  3. Trace the turkey on brown paper then cut.
  4. Glue two wiggle eyes to the face of the turkey then add the other facial features. 
  5. Glue the turkey body to the headband.
  6. Use the template to trace the feather on different color paper.
  7. Use a stapler or tape to attach the colorful feathers to the back of the headband.
  8. Finally, complete the hat by measuring your child’s head and taping the headband together.

Cardboard Thankful Turkey

Supplies

Directions

  1. Cut a turkey body from recycled cardboard then paint brown. Use circular objects around the house to make the body. Challenge your kids to find two different size circles. Use the turkey template as a guide.
  2. Paint the clothespins any color to represent the feathers. Allow it to dry.
  3. Download, print and cut out the wattle and beak template. Then trace on the felt and cut.
  4. Next, glue the eyes, wattle and beak to the turkey.
  5. Ask your child what they are thankful for then write it on the “feathers” or have your child write it. 
  6. Finally, add clothespins to the cardboard turkey to complete this thankful project.
