Everyone will be celebrating Memorial Day on Monday to honor those who have died while serving in the military. Even though this holiday is meant for remembrance, we can make it a fun learning experience for kids. This patriotic star craft is a great way for your children to pay tribute to our fallen heroes. The best thing about this art project is it can be created for the 4th of July as well.

My 6-year old was so happy when I gave him creative control over this project. He spent about 15 minutes painting his patriotic star craft. It’s okay if your child mix the colors. Let them get creative with this activity. I think his star turned out great. Love how the colors blend together. His brother was taking a nap so he missed out on this fun project. Of course, I had to add glitter to this patriotic star to make it sparkle. We used silver but any color will work fine.
The beautiful pennant was created by Tina, the woman behind The Bear & The Fawn. You can download the free Memorial Day pennants and prints on her blog. I added the ribbons to make it more festive. Hope you enjoy creating this patriotic star craft with your family to celebrate Memorial Day!
