Easy Shark Painting for Kids with Free Printable

It’s officially SHARK WEEK! We love celebrating every year with fun activities and delicious treats. The Discover Channel always have great shows that are entertaining as well as educational. I thought it would be cool to make a shark painting that’s easy for small children. It was a hit with my toddler and I’m sure your kids will love it too. Check out all the details below!

Supplies for Shark Painting

Canvas panels or white cardstock
Acrylic paint (shades of blue)
Cricut Explore Air 2
Cricut removable premium vinyl (black)
Round foam brush
Masking tape (if you don’t have a Cricut)
Shark printable (see directions for link)
Plastic paint palette or paper plate
Glitter (optional)

Directions

Start by gathering all your supplies for this art project. It makes crafting with kids less stressful when you don’t have to leave often to get each supply.
I used my Cricut Explore Air 2 to create the shark. The image was $0.99 but there were a few free options. If you don’t have a cutting machine, download, print and cut this shark template. You can also select option 2 or option 3 for this shark painting.
Once your shark is cut from the Cricut, remove the back and place the adhesive side on the canvas panel or cardstock. If you don’t have a cutting machine, attach the shark template with masking tape to the panel or cardstock.
Next, get painting! Let your kids have fun with this art project. Add different shades of blue paint to a paper plate or plastic paint palette. Use the round foam brush to paint the canvas.
Finally, before the paint completely dries, remove the vinyl or taped template. You can also add glitter if it makes your child happy.

My toddler had so much fun with this activity! He couldn’t wait to start using the foam brush to stamp the canvas panel. There were times that he got a little carried away with the paint but that’s normal for toddlers. We practiced counting while he was working on this art project. He also had the opportunity to work on his fine motor skills.
