How to Set Up Your Apple Pie Sensory Bin
Making Cloud Dough
Ingredients: flour, vegetable oil, ground cinnamon, ground allspice and ground nutmeg
Make the cloud dough by mixing 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, 1–1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 1–1/2 tablespoons ground nutmeg and 1 teaspoon allspice in a bowl. The consistency of the dough should be crumbly.
Setting Up Your Sensory Bin
- Sensory table or plastic bin
- Artificial mini apples
- Cinnamon sticks
- Wooden scoops
- Cloud dough
- Toy baking set
- Recycled cinnamon bottle
- Measuring cups
Start by adding the cloud dough to the bin. Next, add the artificial apples and cinnamon sticks to the bin. Finally, set out wooden scoops recycled cinnamon bottle (mine is from 4 years ago), measuring cups and toy baking set. Let your kids use their imagination to create their apple pies. My toddler had a lot of fun with this sensory bin. He made a huge mess with the cloud dough. It was all over his clothes and the floor. I didn’t mind because he was having the best time while also learning. However, I would suggest adding a blanket or tablecloth under your sensory bin. Kids can work on math by counting the apples and cinnamon sticks while making their pies.
