DIY I Love You Footprint Mug

plain white mug, paint brush, non-toxic paint, oil-based Sharpie pen, acrylic sealer in gloss finish, oven, paper plate
  1. Put some paint on a paper plate. Dip the paint brush in the paint then evenly coat your baby’s foot with it.
  2. You will need some extra help with this step. Place their foot on the mug to form one half of a heart. If you make a mistake, use rubbing alcohol to clean it. Hold it there for a few seconds. Remove foot then clean it off with wipes or wet washcloth.
  3. Apply coat of paint to other foot then place on the mug to form the other half of the heart. Hold it there for a few seconds. Remove foot then clean it.
  4. Let mug air dry for at least two hours.
  5. Use the oil-based Sharpie to write “I” on the left side of the heart and “U” on the other side of the heart.
  6. Place the mug in a cool oven, set the temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 30 min. This will cure the paint as well as the Sharpie.
  7. Once it’s done baking, let it cool in the oven for a few hours.
  8. Apply several light coats of acrylic sealer to the mug then allow it to dry.
  9. Hand wash or top rack in the dishwasher.
