Attend a Local Event for MLK Day

There are always events including parades happening throughout the country to celebrate MLK Day. This is a great opportunity for children to see people from different backgrounds getting together to honor the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A quick Google search will help you locate an event in your area. Watch a Documentary or a Movie about MLK and the Civil Rights Movement

Watching a documentary or movie is a great way to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and the civil rights movement. First, search for films that are age-appropriate for your kids. Next, set up a snack bar that includes your favorite treats and drinks. Finally, gather everyone and watch a documentary or movie. You can find films on different streaming services, cable or YouTube. Be prepared to answer questions your child may have after watching the film.
