Caleb is a huge fan of Spider-man! I was not surprised when he made a request for a Miles Morales themed birthday party. Our original plans for his celebration included cupcakes at school, party at the arcade then a trip to Legoland. All this changed with the COVID-19 outbreak. Theme parks and businesses have shut down to stop the spread of the disease. We went from planning Caleb’s party to worrying about protecting our family. However, I had to make sure we celebrated this milestone birthday. Check out how we created a spidey celebration for Caleb’s 5th birthday.
I used Caleb’s collection of Spider-man action figures and mask as decoration for the party. The balloon garland was created using an arch strip from Walmart. It cost less than $2 and made the entire process easy for me to complete. You will need either command hooks or push pins to hang the garland. This took longer than expected because I had to blow up all the balloons. Next time I will get the balloon pump to speed things up.
The cupcakes were purchased from my local grocery store, Publix. I dressed them up with spiders from Halloween and edible spider webs. Made the spider webs using Ghirardelli white melting wafers. I used a template from Cake Girls as a guide to make the spider webs. They turned out better than expected for my first time working with melting wafers.
These delicious cookies were made by my talented friend, Vanessa fromTwenty One Sweets. They have an almond flavor with royal icing. The cookies tastes just as good as they look. Our cookies from Twenty One Sweets were the perfect treats for a spidey celebration at home.
The birthday boy requested pizza for his meal. I decorated the table with a spider web table runner from Halloween. We played games throughout the day and enjoyed some water fun outside. A nice and simple celebration, quarantine style. I hope you enjoyed all the details for Caleb’s birthday party!
