It’s not quite October but we’re already enjoying some fun Halloween activities at the house. Since we’re not going trick or treating this year, I plan on making things extra special for my boys all month. I love sensory activities because they are easy to put together and keep kids entertained. Your kids will love this Halloween sensory activity. My boys searched for the spooky Halloween items in the cauldron and played with the spaghetti.

Supplies for Halloween Sensory Activity
- Spaghetti
- Food gel
- Colander
- Gallon storage bags
- Cauldron or bin
- White distilled vinegar
- Safety scissors (optional)
- Halloween party favors
- Skeleton hands tongs

Directions for Colored Spaghetti
- Cook your spaghetti according to the package but make sure it’s al dente. I only used one box and it was enough for both boys.
- Next, drain the spaghetti in the colander and rinse with cool water.
- Insert the spaghetti in a gallon storage bag. I used two because it didn’t want the bag too full. Also, use separate bags if you are making more than one color.
- Add at least 6 drops of food gel to the bag then add 2 tablespoons of vinegar.
- Seal the bag properly and mix the spaghetti until it’s completely saturated. Add more food gel if you want a darker shade.
- Remove from bags and rinse under cool water. This will help remove excess food dye.
- Let the spaghetti dry for at least 1-2 hours before setting up the sensory bin.

I took the boys outside for this sensory play but it’s perfect for indoors too. Things will get messy with this fun activity. You will need an old blanket, shower curtain or plastic tablecloth to place under the bin or tray. This Halloween sensory bin is made up of colored spaghetti, plastic spiders, fangs, bats and other cool items. The boys used skeleton hands tongs to play with the spaghetti. This is the perfect Halloween sensory activity for the kids.

Let your kids have fun with this awesome Halloween sensory activity. They can explore the texture of the spaghetti and scoop the items with the skeleton tongs. Your kids can work on numbers by counting all the Halloween party favors. I made a similar sensory bin last year with green spaghetti and added black spiders. Turn it into a game and time the kids to see how fast they can scoop all the items in the cauldron. They will have so much fun. My kids really enjoyed using the skeleton hands to play with the sensory bin. You can use safety scissors to cut the spaghetti or regular tongs to pick up the toys.

This is definitely a messy sensory play for kids. Spaghetti was everywhere once my children finished playing. Make sure you take it outside or place a blanket or sheet down before setting up this Halloween sensory activity.
