Beautiful and Super Simple Snowflake Painting for Kids

We are enjoying some nice weather in Florida. I thought it would be a good idea to have my toddler create a super simple snowflake painting. Kids of all ages will enjoy this activity. It’s easy to set up and the perfect winter art project.

Supplies for Snowflake Painting

canvas panels or white cardstock
acrylic paint
Cricut Explore Air 2
Cricut removable premium vinyl (black)
round foam brush or cotton balls
masking tape (if you don’t have a Cricut)
plastic paint palette or paper plate
glitter (optional)
snowflake template

Directions

First, start by gathering all your supplies for this art project. This way you don’t have to leave your little ones unattended while they create their snowflake painting.
Next, download and print your favorite snowflake template. I used my Cricut Explore Air 2 to create the snowflake. My canvas panel is pretty big, so I decided to create a snowflake that measures around 8 x 8.
Once your snowflake is cut, remove the back and place the adhesive side on the canvas panel or cardstock. If you didn’t use a cutting machine, use masking tape to create your snowflake or tape the free template on the panel or cardstock.
It’s time to start painting! Let your kids have fun with this art project. Add the paint to a paper plate or plastic paint palette. I selected different shades of blue and white. However, choose whatever color makes your kids happy. Use the round foam brush or cotton balls to paint the canvas.
Finally, before the paint completely dries, remove the snowflake vinyl or taped snowflake. You can also add glitter if it makes your child happy.

I really love the way my toddler’s snowflake painting turned out. He had so much fun creating this winter art project. I suggest letting your little ones mix the colors on the canvas. You can use different shades of blue or add purple and pink.

This activity can get a little messy. My son was not a fan of getting the paint on his hand. Thank goodness I had wipes nearby because he was going to rub it in his hair.
