Happy Halloween! Here’s a last minute art project you can make with your little ones before trick-or-treating. This beautiful scrape painting pumpkin is a fun activity where each child can create a unique pattern. I suggest using vibrant colors but traditional pumpkin colors will also work for this craft.

Supplies for Scrape Painting Pumpkin
- Paint (any vibrant color)
- Recycled cardboard (cut into a square)
- White cardstock
- Tray (optional)
- Scissors
- Pumpkin template
- Glue
- Pencil
- Cricut (optional)

Directions
- First, download, print then cut out the free pumpkin template. See supplies to get the template. If you have a cutting machine like a Cricut, search for a pumpkin image then cut.
- Next, add a few drops of paint on white cardstock. Make sure to use vibrant colors or traditional pumpkin colors. On another white cardstock, add drops of gold or brown paint for the stem.
- Take the cardboard square and scrape the paint across the white cardstock. Start at the top and move downward. Now move in a different direction. Try not to scrape the paper more than 3 or 4 times. Set aside to dry.
- Finally, use a pencil to trace the pumpkin template on the painted cardstocks then cut. Glue the stem to the pumpkin to complete this craft.

We love this painting technique! You will find many holiday crafts on this blog with this style. I love that each pumpkin you make will look different. This art project may get a little messy so make sure to keep wet wipes nearby. I also recommend putting a plastic tablecloth or old newspaper on the table before making this scrape painting pumpkin.
