Winter Vacation Ultimate Guide for Breckenridge

Luxury cabin in Colorado
I enjoyed a wonderful winter vacation to Breckenridge, Colorado a few weeks ago with a group of 14 people.  I had an amazing time with my husband and friends. We flew out of Orlando to start our winter vacation to Denver on Southwest Airlines. I strongly urge you to either upgrade your boarding position or check in early as possible. If not, you’ll end up sitting next to someone besides your partner. We reserved private transportation for our winter vacation which I highly recommend if you are traveling with a large group. It’s also a great idea if you don’t have a lot of experience driving in the snow. Check out my ultimate guide to a winter vacation in Breckenridge, Colorado.

We rented a luxury home for our winter vacation that was close to public transportation (free service throughout town) and walking distance to the Nordic Center. We picked up groceries from the City Market so we didn’t have to dine out every day. The pricing and design of the store reminds me of Winn Dixie. We signed up for the Value Card to take advantage of the store deals. There are shuttle stops near the store or you can grab an Uber or Lyft.

The majority of us did not plan on hitting the slopes for this winter vacation so we found other cool activities in Breckenridge. Here’s a list of fun things to do besides skiing.
Please note: Most of us suffered from altitude sickness while on this trip. Here’s some tips to help prepare for the high altitude in Breckenridge.

Snow Tubing

We took a trip to Frisco to enjoy their hills at the Adventure Park. This was a fun activity for our winter vacation. Reservations are required. We paid about $35 per person. Check their website because prices vary depending on the time of the year.

Gondola Ride

It’s a free service for all visitors that want to travel from downtown Breckenridge to Peak 7 and 8.

Nordic Snowcat Adventures

This was definitely the highlight of my trip. Do not plan a winter vacation to Breckenridge without reserving a Snowcat tour. We had an incredible experience with the best guides. The Snowcat Adventure features a heated, all glass enclosed tracked vehicle that tours the Legend forests. There’s a stop at Josie’s Cabin for s’mores and hot chocolate. We also enjoyed a ride on a toboggan sled. The cost for the tour is $75 per person and totally worth it.
