If you’re looking for a simple, slightly messy fall activity to keep kids busy, this bubble wrap apple craft is perfect. It uses a fun painting technique that is great for toddlers, preschoolers and elementary aged children. Plus, it’s a smart way to upcycle all that extra bubble wrap sitting in your delivery boxes. I made sure to include a free printable apple template to make crafting easier. Let’s get started!

Supplies for Bubble Wrap Apple Craft
- Apple template
- Recycled bubble wrap
- Paint
- Scissors
- Cardstock (white, green & brown)
- Glue stick
- Paintbrush
- Pencil

Directions
- First, print out the free apple template onto white cardstock. Cardstock holds up much better than standard printer or construction paper for this activity.
- Next, cut a piece of bubble wrap (slightly larger than the apple template). Then, with your paintbrush, apply a thin, even layer of paint to the raised bubble side. TIP: Don’t put too much paint on the bubble wrap or it will look like a blob instead of distinct dots when pressing it onto the cardstock. Initially, we made that mistake the first time we did this activity.
- Carefully place the painted side of the bubble wrap face-down onto a white cardstock. Have your child press down gently across the entire surface using their palms. Gently peel the bubble wrap back to reveal the cool textured pattern underneath. Set it aside to dry completely. TIP: This step can get a little messy so make sure to keep wet wipes or a wet washcloth nearby.
- While the painted cardstock is drying, use a pencil to trace the stem from the template on brown cardstock and the leaf on green cardstock then use scissors to cut.
- Finally, once the paint is completely dry, trace the apple template on the painted cardstock then use scissors to cut it out. Use a glue stick to attach the brown stem and green leaf to the top of the bubble wrap stamped apple.
