Fall is just around the corner! One of the best parts of this season is watching the squirrels gather acorns for the winter. This activity has inspired our latest fall-themed craft. Celebrate this upcoming season with this easy and colorful squirrel silhouette craft. This project is a wonderful way to enjoy a quiet afternoon indoors while you watch the squirrels. To make this activity even easier, I have included a free printable template to get you started.

Supplies for Squirrel Silhouette Craft
- Black cardstock
- Scissors
- Paint (fall colors)
- Cotton balls
- White cardstock
- Paper plate or paint palette
- Squirrel template
- Pencil
- Clothespins
- Painter’s tape or masking tape
- Cricut (optional)
Directions
- First, download the FREE squirrel template. (see supplies) Then print on white cardstock and cut it out. If you have a Cricut, search for a squirrel image then cut on white cardstock.
- Next, secure the silhouette template to the black cardstock with tape.
- Select at least 3 fall color paints then add a few drops to a paper plate or paint palette.
- Your child will need to pinch a cotton ball in between a clothespin.
- Now it’s time to paint! Start adding dabs of fall color paint around the squirrel silhouette. Once your child is finished, set the painting aside to dry.
- Finally, carefully peel the squirrel silhouette from the black cardstock to reveal a beautiful fall craft.
