Looking for a fun craft to make with kids to celebrate Juneteenth? Create a customized and wearable craft stick bracelet. We decided to use the colors red, black and green. Many people in the African American community celebrate Juneteenth using the colors of the Pan-African flag because it represents pride and freedom. You can wear your craft stick bracelet at any Freedom Day celebration!

Supplies for Juneteenth Craft Stick Bracelet

Directions

  1. First, boil the jumbo craft sticks in water on the stove for about 15 minutes. You can also boil water in a kettle then add it to a glass bowl. Place the jumbo craft sticks in the bowl and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. Let the craft sticks sit in the water for another 30 minutes to make sure they are soft enough to bend without breaking. I suggest boiling extra sticks just in case you break some.
  2. Next, gently bend the craft stick bracelets and place in a small cup or jar to dry overnight.
  3. Finally, decorate your craft stick bracelet with paint. Start with red then black and green or mix up the colors like my preschooler. You can also use markers, paint sticks, stickers or gems to decorate your craft stick bracelet.
