It’s a fun sensory activity that will have your little ones entertained for a long time. We took the fun outdoors for this Halloween themed sensory bin. My 5-year old wanted to spend three hours outside with this magical monster soup sensory bin. Unfortunately, it started to rain to we only spent one hour outside. This was so easy to put together and lots of fun.

Sensory bins are great for small children but they should always be closely supervised. Some of the items may be a choking hazard. You can substitute with larger Halloween party favors or only use the colored water.

Setting Up Sensory Bin

Start by gathering all your supplies to make the magical monster soup Halloween sensory bin. I used our IKEA FLISAT children’s table for this activity but you can use a large plastic bin or tub. The boys are always in the house so I decided to take them outside. I filled the bins with water from the hose. Next, I added about 6-8 drops of food coloring to the water then stirred it with a spoon. Finally, throw in some plastic rats, vampire fangs, snakes and bats. I also added acrylic ghosts, bones and skulls to the water. Make sure to monitor smaller children because some of the items can be a choking hazard.

My boys had so much pouring the water in the cauldron and scooping all the bugs. I added two cauldrons because I didn’t want the boys to fight over it. Since my 5-year loves games, I timed him to see how many bugs he could pick up with the skeleton hands. This is a great way for toddlers to work on their fine motor skills. Your kids will also enjoy using their imagination to make monster soup with all the Halloween items.
