Simple Back to School Sensory Bin for Kids

School is back in session! It’s been a bit crazy over here but we’re finally adjusting to the new schedule. I wanted to find ways to include my toddler with all the excitement that is happening with his brother. This back to school sensory bin was perfect! He had so much fun exploring all the items and reviewing his letters and colors. I had to add the school bus because he loves playing with it. He used it to transport the letters around the bin. This sensory activity is a fun way for kids to use their imagination and learn. Check out all the details below!

Dry black beans
Magnifying glass
Wooden toaster tongs
Alphabet erasers
Wooden bowl
Crayon erasers
Wooden scoop

How to Set Up Your Back to School Sensory Bin

First, open the bag with the dry black beans and pour them into the plastic bin. Next, add the alphabet and crayon erasers. If you don’t have the erasers, use wooden or magnetic letters. Simple as that! Now it’s time to let your little one have fun and play. Make sure to supervise smaller children. Some of the items are a choking hazard.

My toddler had so much fun with this sensory activity. He spent a lot of time scooping the beans and picking up the letters. The magnifying glass was a huge hit. He enjoyed looking at the letters and beans. It was so nice watching him explore the sensory bin and use his imagination. We also worked on letter recognition, counting and colors. If you have an older child, practice creating words with the letters. You can also hide the letters in the beans and play a game of alphabet hunt.
