Supplies for Sponge Stamped Ghost
- Ghost template
- Pencil
- Cardstock
- Scissors
- Paint
- Glue stick
- Masking tape
- Paper plate or paint tray
- Round sponge brush

Directions
- First, print out the ghost template onto white cardstock. Carefully cut around the outer edge of the ghost shape.
- Next, roll a few small loops of the masking tape and place them on the back of your paper ghost. Gently press the ghost onto the center of a fresh piece of white cardstock. TIP: The tape holds the shape securely in place so paint doesn’t bleed underneath.
- Pour 3-4 different paint colors onto a paper plate or paint tray. Dip your round sponge brush into the paint and start stamping all around the outer edges of the ghost outline. Make sure to cover the border and extend onto the background. Blend and overlap the different colors to create a bright Halloween background.
- While the paint is still freshly stamped, carefully peel away the paper ghost template to reveal the clean, white ghost silhouette underneath. Set it aside to dry completely.
- Finally, cut the eyes and mouth from the template (you’ll find two different expression options to choose from). Use the glue stick to attach the eyes and mouth right onto your ghost silhouette. You can now show off your sponge stamped ghost craft.

Crafting Tips for Sponge Stamped Ghost Craft
- Use a mix of large and small round sponge brushes to add cool visual texture to the background.
- Encourage kids to overlap their colors around the edges. Neon green, dark purple, bright orange and black create a vivid contrast against the white ghost outline.
- Pre-cut the ghost outlines and tape loops ahead of time for younger toddlers or preschoolers so they can jump straight into the fun part. Teachers may also want to do the same if you are limited on craft time.
